Tiktok
Dance crazes and new music is the theme here, but with multiple lockdowns globally, people have taken to TikTok as a way to entertain themselves and their friends. Influencers have also flocked to the platform to join the hype. TikTok does boast one of the largest growth percentages in 2020, and this certainly does not look to stop in 2021. Especially with more focus on monetising the platform for those with large followings.

Trello
With remote working being the new normal in 2021, platforms such as Trello are really benefitting from an increased amount of membership. Trello is a project-based platform, which works on a “boards” basis ideal for organising teams, and ensuring that collaboration on projects is most effective. By being able to associate specific tasks, communicate in each task, and track end dates it really is a great tool for those that are working away from the office. Not to mention a great to bring the team together in one environment.
Reddit is the left-field option in our top 10, however, it did make waves at the end of 2020. With some high profile revelations coming from Reddit it has definitely grown in popularity, even though it is a platform that has been around since 2005. For those that do not know Reddit, is effectively a collection of online forums and discussions which allow the user to vote and interact with. Conspiracy theories seem to be a popular feature on this platform, leading peoples more curious sides to take over.
Business networking has changed as we know it due to the global pandemic taking hold. The conventional meeting in a room is a thing of the past, so the virtual way is the only way forward. LinkedIn last year saw one of its best years to date with a new member every 2 seconds. 2021 looks to be a great year for the platform as they introduce more functionality, and the chance to really network with those that are either potential customers, or that operate within your chosen field.
Twitch
More for the gaming community, but effectively a great way for people to create content. Twitch has seen a large growth in 2020, and this can also be seen moving into 2021. Gamers from all over the world are able to demonstrate their skills against others, creating a great community feel. With more and more people working from home or having the spare time you will see Twitch grow massively in 2021.
Discord
Communication has been a key focus for many in 2020 and is the same story in 2021. With a rise in SASS companies, more and more are utilising the discord app. Safer and also more secure than Whats App it can really bring teams together, especially when working on projects.
Youtube
With an even bigger rise last year in video content, YouTube still remains in the top 10 of 2021. There has been an ever-growing presence for companies, and also individuals joining YouTube as a way of promoting their business, and also trying to reach a new demographic. As 2020 provoked the world to work from home even more so, the chance to sit and watch video content has enabled people to really engage their audiences, but also reach out to them on a personal level.
